Fred Mitchell, the Foreign Minister, was in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday 20 August 2026. The purpose was in part to visit the Episcopal Cathedral of St Philip in Atlanta to acquaint himself with the work of the church, given its stance on immigration. Mr. Mitchell told the officer of the church Liz Aull that The Bahamas was engaged in an outreach to the faith community on matters like immigration and multilateralism, given the changing climate in the world that is against immigration. A special envoy has been appointed by the government for relations with the See At Canterbury and there is an outstanding Memorandum of Understanding between the Vatican and The Bahamas government on mutual cooperation. He was accompanied by the Consul General of The Bahamas in Atlanta Anthony Moss.
