First Annual Poker Run Links South Florida and Grand Bahama Islands in Water Sports, Festivals and Celebration!

Riviera Beach – The most exciting water sports event in South Florida in decades will soon rumble off the coast of Palm Beach County.

The First Annual Grand Bahama Island Poker Run officially got underway May 29^th at 11:30 a.m. at the Port of Palm Beach and was highlighted by ABC Network Channel 25 on the 60 o’clock evening news.

Event organizers along with government officials from the Bahamas and The City of Riviera Beach spelled out the details of the water sport that will have power boaters racing to several islands throughout the Bahamas.

Participants will actually play poker during the race and will pick up cards from a dealer at each stop.

The event begins at the Port of Palm Beach where hundreds of powerboat contestants will be led on a 50-mile convoy to Grand Bahama Islands to launch the race.

Poker Run sponsors say the race reinforces Grand Bahama Islands and South Florida as the Mecca of power boating and the boating industry, as well as a fishing Mecca.

The event is also expected to be an economic boost to both destinations, drawing thousands of boating enthusiasts and tourists.

The Poker Runs, which will take place between July and November are in part a celebration of The Bahamas’ 30^th Annual Independence Year, is sponsored by Hummer of the Palm Beaches, The Port of Palm Beach, The City of Riviera Beach, Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, Bahamas Seafood Grill, Pelican Bay Hotel of Freeport, Grand Bahama and Oasis Casino of Freeport, Grand Bahama.
