At the Rand in Freeport

According to the Nurses Union and their President Amanchia Williams, the issue is not money.  The issue is whether the Public Hospitals Authority can unilaterally impose shift changes.  The PHA says yes and the union says no. There appears to be an argument over what the law says.  The Nurses have staged walkouts in Nassau and in Freeport.  The Ministry of Health issued a statement warning of disruptions in service at the hospitals and clinics.  The Minister says that there is no more money to give the nurses.  The Director of Labour John Pinder says he has a meeting scheduled with them to see if he can settle the issues.  A meeting with the Leader of the Opposition with the nurses was declined by the nurses.  The PLP supports the legitimate struggle of the nurses for equity and fair play.
