Rev Irvin Clarke Gets Service Of Honour In Exuma

Irvin Clarke JP will receive a Service of Honour in the presence of the officers of the state at the E C McKenzie Auditorium in Ramsay, Exuma today Sunday 7 August.  The Prime Minister Perry Christie and the Deputy Prime Minister Philip Davis will attend. Rev. Clarke was the last of the preachers present and alive at the Independence Ceremonies in Georgetown, Exuma in 1973. He preached the sermon on the eve of Independence. For that signal contribution to the national life of The Bahamas and for the iconic nature of is leadership of the local Christian and Baptist Community in Exuma, Reverend Clarke is being presented with a special service supported by the state.   He was 85 years old when he died.  Photos will follow in a later edition.
