On The Allegations Made by The Cooper Family about Freeport Power

For Immediate Release

19 March 2019

The Cooper family held a press conference on Sunday 17 March 2019 in which they made  serious allegations against Freeport Power.

It appears to the PLP that the company, the regulator the Grand  Bahama Port Authority and the Government must answer to at least two of the allegations.

One, the company has been accused of unfairly targeting the Cooper family businesses, leaving those businesses without power and subject to closure and shutting down more businesses in Grand Bahama.

Secondly, the Coopers allege that the power company has been stealing from the consumers in Grand Bahama and are therefore in no position to accuse others of stealing.

The PLP wants immediately to know the answers to these allegations.

It appears to the PLP that someone should step in and resolve these matters without resort to.the criminal law and prevent further lasting damage to Grand Bahama’s economy.
