BELINDA’S HAIL MARY PASS TO SAVE THE TEACHER’S UNION

On Tuesday 4 August 2026 a strange missive went around. The loud mouth, rowdy President of the Bahamas Union of Teacher Belinda Wilson was sending out an invitation for all unions to come under one umbrella union. She claimed that this would be in the best interest of the labour movement and she was moved to see that this happened. Well this seemed like a Damascus moment but then these things don’t happen spontaneously. The question is why did the invitation come about? The back chat is that Belinda Wilson is in deep trouble. People on both sides including her members are tired of the bellicose style and want it to stop. The end result is she is losing members because she cannot get anything done without rowing and other unions are encroaching on her membership and she is losing dues. That would cause a Damascus moment. It could not happen to a finer person.
