Alexander Thompson Dies

The following statement was issued by Fred Mitchell, PLP Shadow Minister of Labour:

Statement by Senator Fred Mitchell
Opposition Spokesman on Labour

5 June 2017

On The Passing Of Alexander Thompson

On behalf of the Progressive Liberal Party, I wish to express condolences to the family of the late Alexander Thompson, a pioneering trade unionist and a giant in labour history. His quiet presence as a part of a team that built the Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union is fondly remembered and greatly appreciated.

In the history of our country, he should be remembered for his enduring contribution to the protection of the rights of workers and the upholding of our democracy.

May he rest in peace.

End
