ARAWAK PORT SHOULD BE TAXED OUT OF EXISTENCE

The PLP must take the position if they return to office that the Arawak Port Development was corruptly obtained and negotiated.  This is the port that the FNM under Hubert Ingraham allowed to get a monopoly on the import of goods into the city of Nassau and within twenty miles of Nassau. This monopoly is also unfair and wrong.  It was given to the children of the UBP’s Bay Street Boys: the 18 families. The Government can either abolish the monopoly and compensate the owners or impose taxes of a punitive nature on the port so that they will give up the monopoly. That should become official PLP policy.
