BRIAN SEYMOUR WRITES SHAME ON KWASI THOMPSON

“If in the process of  winning you have lost the respect of all of your competitors, you have won nothing”. Paul Elvstrom.

Kwasi Thompson, six weeks ago, was the most powerful and influential member of former Prime Minister, Dr.Minnis’ administration; he served as Minister for Grand Bahama, and Minister of State for finance. His tenure as a Minister can be described as unprincipled, subpar, and a shipwreck in the bad decisions that he made.  Nevertheless, he was elected  as Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama on September 16th, 2021 election.

Thompson, while serving as a Minister, presided over a close family member whom was given a cushy job created for the member at NIB with a bloated salary; a textbook case of nepotism. This move did not embarrass him at all.

Thompson’s reports on the imminent sale of the Grand Lucaya Hotel was nothing more  than a bold-faced falsehood.  The mismanagement of hurricane reconstruction after hurricane Dorian’s damages in East Grand Bahama hangs   around the neck of the FNM like a lead weight.

Nevertheless, Thompson stands in the House of Parliament on Thursday Nov. 4th,  and made demands of this newly-elected PLP government not properly constituted, with statutory boards still in the process of being appointed.  He, shamelessly, made demands of a dock, seawall, a new school, graveyard  expansion, and construction of houses in East Grand Bahama.

Mr.Thompson, common decency dictates that you allow the government at least 90 days transition into a fully functioning administration.  Mr. Thompson after serving in the legislative branch for two terms, you clearly do not have a full understanding of how public policy is formulated and implemented.  Thompson  somewhere along the road of life, you have lost your way, and self respect.  How sad!
