On The Death of Lady Jacqueline Fawkes

Today I Iearned with sadness of the passing of Lady Jacqueline Fawkes, widow of the late labour hero Sir Randol Fawkes. Lady Fawkes was the chief supporter of her husband’s work during his life time. She was the chief defender of his legacy as a freedom fighter and trade unionist after his passing.

However, she was also a civic leader in her own right, particularly in support of women and girls through the Girl’s Guides and the Young Women’s Christian Association ( YWCA).

On behalf of the PLP, my Parliamentary Colleagues and all officers and members, I express condolences to the members of the family, especially the children. I pray that you will keep strong and seek to carry on the work of both your parents and protect their legacies.
