COVID THREATENS AGAIN

Each day during this holiday season, the Bahamian public was getting panicked by the fact that the covid cases were increasing (320 on Christmas Day alone).  This is almost certainly a result of the increased social activity.  We wonder why anyone is surprised.  Our biggest customer base for tourism is South Florida and that state is awash with Covid cases.  So the fact that we are getting more is not a surprise.  The question though is what do you do about it?  If you leave if to Hubert Minnis and we won’t, he would say shut the place down again.  That cannot and should not happen. Let’s not go down that road. It seems to us that this virus is going to be around for a while and we have to learn to live with it.  That seems to us to mean on the current science: wearing a mask, getting a vaccine and booster,  washing your hands and staying out of large crowds.  Let’s all see if we can commit to this.  And this alarm that is being spread by the increased numbers, let’s cut it out.
