Eight Mile Rock Teacher’s Case Has To Be Done Over A Third Time

Court of Appeal orders a retrial on Tuesday 30th August of the case of Andre Birbal, a Trinidadian teacher, who was convicted of buggering two school boys. The allegations caused quite a furor in the Eight Mile Rock Community. Mr. Birbal has always protested his innocence. He has appealed the case twice and won each time. This last time, he defended himself after his lawyer abandoned him. The Court of Appeal ordered a third trial. We think that this now borders on abuse and the matter should be dropped by the Attorney General’s office.
