We buried our friend and brother, the freedom fighter George Curtis, known as Pecos.  Originally from Kemp Road and the Five Pound Lot in Nassau, he moved to West End, Grand Bahama first as a taxi driver and then as a businessman in Freeport.  He was a leader in the PLP community there and led the internal fight to dethrone Kendal Nottage as the PLP’s leader in Grand Bahama. He was a fervent supporter of Philip Brave Davis, the now Prime Minister.  The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell attended the service. The service was held at the Mary Star of the Sea Church in Freeport, Grand Bahama on Saturday 26 February. Mr. Curtis was cremated.
