GRENADA CELEBRATES ITS INDEPENDENCE DAY 50 YEARS

Fred Mitchell represented Prime Minister Philip Davis at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Grenada’s independence on 7 February 2024.  The now Prime Minister  Dickon Mitchell tried to mark the moment as one of national reconciliation.  He recalled the independence movement by Sir Eric Gairy who was deposed by Maurice Bishop in 1979 and asked for unity against that backdrop.  Fred Mitchell was in St George’s, the Grenadian capital at the national stadium with Prime Minister of St Vincent Ralph Gonsalves, Pierre Philipe, Prime Minister St Lucia, Dame Sandra Mason, President of Barbados and Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell of Grenada with Dame Cecile L Grenade, Governor General of Grenada.
