Mitchell On Robert Kennedy Jr
Nassau, Bahamas – The following is a statement by the Hon. Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration:
In the House of Assembly yesterday, I raised on a point of privilege certain allegations published under the name Robert F Kennedy Jr. about Ministers of the Bahamas Government of which I am one.
The allegations were denounced in the House as false in every material particular.
They give rise in my view to defamatory allegations and attorneys are being instructed with regard to them.
The matter has been referred to the Committee on Privileges of The House for further investigation.
In the house, I indicated that this arises from allegations made that the organization which calls itself Save The Bays is being funded by monies from a foreign national designed to destabilize the government of The Bahamas. The Committee has an obligation to follow the money trail and see what the real objectives of Save The Bays are.

Minister thank you for staying on this. I wish more Bahamians would realize how serious this whole matter is. Intervention in our political process by foreign nationals is scary and very, very dangerous.
I am so frustrated with how these serious matters never seem to get the attention they deserve. I look forward to your continued attention and energy on this matter. It needs to be kept in the forefront of our national conversation,lest we wake late!!!
