Mitchell On The Death Of Vernon Curtis

14 November 2016

STATEMENT BY THE HON. FRED MITCHELL, MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND IMMIGRATION, ON THE DEATH OF VERNON CURTIS, CIVIC LEADER, IN EXUMA

I am truly saddened this morning at the death of Vernon Curtis, a great civic leader, activist, businessman and community organizer from Exuma. He will truly be missed. Mr. Curtis is of that generation of Exumians who fought for independence, majority rule and Bahamianization. He was Exuma’s eminence grise and protector of its history, its traditions and its reputation. He leaves a great legacy. He was a supporter of the cause and helped to elect and counsel many an MP. I am grateful for his life of service, for his friendship and for his wise counsel and total dedication to Exuma and The Bahamas. May he rest in peace.
