PETER TURNQUEST TRASH TALKING THE ECONOMY INTO THE GROUND

So there is this picture that was floated around last week of Peter Turnquest, the hapless Minister of Finance of the country as he sat mugging for the cameras at the meeting of the IDB in Washington D.C. He looked as proud as peacock. He had truly arrived. All the time they were complaining about travelling by the PLP and the PLP’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell, it was simple

All the time they were complaining about travelling by the PLP and the PLP’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell, it was simple jealousy. They wanted to do it too. They have been travelling up a storm. They now realise that you cannot sit on your behinds in Nassau and get anything done if you wish to help your country.

There is another lesson we wish that Peter Turnquest would learn and that is to stop talking this economy down.
He did a most irresponsible thing last week in the House of Assembly and that was to accuse the PLP of losing or diverting or stealing 42 million dollars. It was a damnable, contemptible lie. It was a shame and disgrace. Here we are five months after the general election and he is still talking about what the PLP did. If it’s lost, it was the FNM who lost it.

The real point though is that it cannot be lost. Every penny is there. He himself had to backtrack very carefully saying that it was not lost but they couldn’t find it.

When he got push back from the PLP, the next thing he did was say well the money appears to have been diverted from the Treasury to the cronies of the PLP. That was even worse. The problem with all of this is that the country is not his audience anymore. It is the world. So here he is trying to raise a foreign currency loan on the market internationally while at the same time telling the world how badly

The problem with all of this is that the country is not his audience anymore. It is the world. So here he is trying to raise a foreign currency loan on the market internationally while at the same time telling the world how badly his country is doing. That is really smart. It can only be an FNM strategy. Everything out of their mouths is we have no money.

That did not stop them though from paying 381 million dollars in bills by their own reckoning in the month of June.  What an absolute travesty they are.

What an absolute travesty they are.

Our point today to Peter Turnquest is to stop talking this economy, down. This is not basketball and no time for trash talking.
