REGISTRATION AT UNIVERSITY OF THE BAHAMAS

Fox Hill MP Fred Mitchell encouraging young UB students to register to vote 1 December at the UB campus Nassau.

Some PLPs were apoplectic last week that the headline in The Nassau Guardian indicated that the United Sates Embassy in Nassau had asked Bahamians to go out t and register to vote.  Etienne Farquharson writing on his blog took grave exception to it.  The thought was that this was a sign of the interference of the United Sates in the internal politics of the country.  Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell made no comment and actually went to the function which was organized by an NGO with the support of the United States Embassy.  The event took place on the University of the Bahamas Campus on Thursday 1st December.
