The Seawall Contract In Grand Bahama Is Cancelled

These photos are of the retaining sea wall partially completed at Smith’s Point in Grand Bahama, just east of Freeport.  The seawall contract was granted to a local contractor who has now been dismissed, the contract stopped, reviewed and cancelled.  No word on why or when the project is to be restarted.  It is part of the FNM’s modus operandi to stop, review and cancel contracts that are associated with the PLP, we get that.  The issue though is this, if you are going to cancel the contract, shouldn’t you have someone in waiting to finish it.  After all, this is the hurricane season and you have a left a whole village now exposed.  So if a storm hits now, with the wall partially done and the community totally exposed whose fault will that be is Smith’s Point is wiped out.
