TWO WOMEN PRESIDING OFFICERS

House Speaker Patricia Deveaux

Lashell Adderley, the President of the Senate

Congratulations to the first two women to serve as presiding officers of the chambers of Parliament in The Bahamas simultaneously.  Patricia Deveaux was elected as Speaker for the House, the 54th Speaker as at 6 October 2021 and Lashell Adderley was elected the President of The Senate. Congratulations to the two women and congratulations also to the 7 women in total, the largest ever at one time elected to the House of Assembly.  All PLPs by the way.
