WATER WORKERS TO STRIKE

(Editor’s note: Late on Saturday 20 April 2019, the Water and Sewerage Corporation issued a statement in which they claimed that the unions did not have the necessary two thirds requirement for a strike vote to succeed)

On 17th April, the workers of the unions that represent both the line staff and management at the Water and Sewerage Corporation chose to take a strike vote. It was overwhelmingly in favor of a strike. The vote comes in the face of the actions of the Chairman of the Corporation Adrian Gibson MP who is often described as a kid a candy store.  He is one man wrecking crew, devouring everyone in his sight.  The workers have had enough and after asked the Prime Minister to remove Mr. Gibson from the head of the Corporation and the Prime Minister refusing to act, the workers have now taken action. The unofficial tally is below:

BUSAWU
Total votes cast 203

155 YES 76.4%
48 No 23.6%

WSMU
 Total votes cast 37

23 YES 62.2%
14 NO 37.8%

Total combined (BUSUWU and WSMU) WSc Votes Cast 240

178 YES 74.2%
62 NO 25.8%
