WHY ARE PLPS GETTING INVOLVED IN THE WTO ARGUMENTS? RESTATEMENT FROM THE PLP ON WTO PLPS ADVISED STAY OUT OF THE WTO ARGUMENTS

On Majority Rule Day 10 January about 50 demonstrators organized a noisy, energetic march to stop the Government’s move toward joining the World Tarde Organization.  The problem is the issue is being polluted by the FNM/PLP divide. This is not a PLP fight.  The Government has made a decision.  They are following a process which the PLP supported. Things may have changed so let the FNM justify what they are doing.  Do not help the FNM with this in any way shape or form. You remember how Minnis double crossed the PLP and said in the gender referendum which he promised to support that people must vote their conscience.  So, let the FNM stew in their own fat. Let us stoke the fires though. People should exercise their own deliberate judgement.

(Editor’s note: please note that since this address, the Government has concluded its draft offer and we are examining the position with regard to it. Our view still is that until there is an actual offer to put to the WTO, we have a watching brief.  You may listen to the full statement on Sound Cloud.)
