Columbus Statue Is Damaged

The statue of Christopher Columbus that sits in front of Government House was damaged by a man who was submenta arrested. Tomorrow is National Heroes Day when Bahamians will be honoured for their contributions to the nation.  The old Discovery Day was abolished in 2016 to make way for National Heroes Day.  The day marked the time Christopher Columbus arrived in The Bahamas. This is not in step with the modern Bahamas. His arrival led to the decimation of the indigenous population.  So a number of young Bahamians have been calling for the removal of the statue but was needed was actions not words.  The guy who did it looks lit a nut case but you know the Lord protects babies and fools. The statue was put there in 1830.
