C A Smith Buggers Up The Works

Being sworn in earlier as Deputy to the Governor General

Last week a video was circulating around the town of the putative nominee for the Governor General’s post Ambassador C A Smith. Mr. Smith was speaking at a farewell get together at the Passport Office in Freeport where he kept his Ambassadorial office.  He told those gathered that he was resigning because the Queen had appointed him Governor General, only he had not yet been appointed and no announcement had come from Government House.  Mr. Smith later apologized.  Leader of the Opposition Philip Davis at his press conference on Tuesday 4 June said that this should have disqualified him from taking up the appointment.
