THE NEED FOR TRADESMEN TO MAN THIS ECONOMY

Fred Mitchell meeting with the Grand Bahama Shipyard on Wednesday 12 August 2026 in Freeport.
There was an illuminating interview with an American businessman that was instructive about the state of play in the job front in The Bahamas. The businessman talked about the need for hundreds of thousands of welders, carpenters, masons, electricians and plumbers in the United States in the next five years. There is a similar shortage in The Bahamas and that became clear during the visit of the Minister for Immigration of Freeport on Wednesday 12 August 2026. There is a need to grab the opportunity now to get the attention of the tenth graders that these are jobs that are high paying and in demand.
