Congratulations Senator Barbara Cartwright

For what marks the maiden effort of Senator the Honourable Barbara Cartwright, Minister of Social Services, at piloting legislation through the Parliament, and a successful collaborative execution between the Ministry of Social Services and the Ministry of Health and Wellness led by its Minister, Dr. Michael Danville, the Progressive Liberal Party wishes to congratulate both ministers and their teams, and by extensión, the Government of The Bahamas, on the recent passing of the Older Persons Rights, Protection, Care and Support Bill, 2026.

Consistent with the PLP’s longstanding demonstrated care and compassion for our senior citizens and recognition of their immeasurable contributions to nation-building, this historic Bill now, by way of legislation, ensures the wholesome wellbeing and enhanced quality of life for the older persons of our country.

The PLP remains committed to the plight of those who have and continue to pave the way for this and future generations.
