THE JOKEY LEADERS OF THE COUNTRY

When Kirk Bodie aka K.B. was on the Save Bays payroll and wrote the song Jokey Leaders, he thought he was talking about the then PLP Government.  The problem is that the song has endured and we now have a new government.  The joke is now on the FNM.  They are a bunch of jokey leaders indeed.

You just have to remember as one example the deep bow of Renward Wells, the Minister for Transport, when he was seeing the Prime Minister off at the airport.  It was embarrassing for a supposedly intelligent man to be found willingly in such a position.

Then you have the Prime Minister signing that Oban deal with a  fake signature on the document.  He was caught out by the press and had to confess that he had misled the country on what was taking place. He tried to fool the public.  Nothing has happened to the supposed five billion dollars Oban deal. It was just an illusion.

The latest fiasco is the Post Office crooked deal.  There the Government hatched up a deal to line the pockets of Brent Symonette, the then Minister for Immigration, to take some rooms in the Town Centre Mall.  The Mall had seen better days and was limping and the Post Office five year deal helped Brent Symonette and his brother save a dying project.  Their cancelling the deal will cost millions of dollars to the Bahamian taxpayer. On Friday, their bubble burst on the Post Office when a broken pipe flooded water all over the  Post Office, the videos started going out straight away. The Minister had to bed pardon with a long explanation.

What causes us to write on this Lord’s day though is the announcement and the  fact of a ride taken by the entire Cabinet of the Bahamas, “ all a dem”. They left on Cabinet Day last Tuesday 30th July 2019 to inspect the schools.  This was to assure the public that the schools would be ready for the fall opening.  We assure you that they will not.  However, the Cabinet took three full air conditioned buses, police escorts and sirens and went to nine schools and the Minister of Education with hard hat appeared on the front page of the newspapers to mislead the public that the schools will be ready.

The whole scene was  a joke.  What could any of those Cabinet ministers do?  Not one of them is a carpenter, mason, plumber or electrician. They could not hit a lick.  They are not architects or engineers.  Not one. What could they possibly have had on their silly  minds when they entered into such an exercise.

This is the state of things in The Bahamas and its government.  We have elected a crooked, useless, incompetent government. All form and no substance. They are made up of the most foolish minds in the history of our Cabinets.  These are jokey leaders indeed.
