NEVILLE WISDOM IS BURIED

by editor editor September 20, 2026

Prime Minister Philip Davis bows at the grave site of the late Rt Hon. Neville Wisdom.

The Rt. Hon. Neville Wisdom who served as a Senator in the Pindling era and then as a Minister in the Christie era was buried on Friday 18 September 2026 from the Bahamas Faith Mission auditorium with full state honours. The Prime Minister Philip Davis led the official morning with the Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt and members of the Cabinet. He was 76 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Manita and his son Donavan. Mr. Wisdom is widely credited for the successes of athletes in the international arena from Frank Rutherford, Pauline Davis and Tonique Williams Darling in the Olympics to Troy Kemp in the world championships. He was passionate in his fight for young people. He is widely credited for ensuring that the Tonique Williams Darling Highway was named after the Olympic athlete in substitution for the then Harold Road. A well-deserved accolade from the state. May he rest in peace.
