MICHAEL PINTARD STRIKES BACK

The day that Michael Pintard, the Leader of the Opposition and of the FNM, showed up on the return of parliament from its summer break on Wednesday 16 September 2026, he did not know whether he was going or coming.  It was clear all the fire had gone out of his belly. The reason was not apparent but we have learned from private sources what belled the cat.

At a leadership meeting held the night before Mr. Pintard had to come to the stark reality that the people who he has around him are not for him. They want him gone and they are insisting on a convention.

For himself his position was clear. He did not mince words. He told them that they could have their convention, provided they found the money to hold it. However, he wanted them to know with certainty that he did not intend to step down. He is going to run again for Leader of the FNM.

That shocked them but they should not be surprised. He has nothing else to do. He has no profession or business to go back to. This is the best job he has held in his life and he needs the money.
